Zooom..........

To quote a very poignant mommy, "The days are long but the years are short."

Sydney is cruising into month 4 and her little personality is peeking out. We keep introducing her to new friends and adventures and enjoy watching her take it all in. At 3 months, she started to talk and smile. Her favorite baby word has been "Ah-goo," which Mike has dubbed that her official nickname. At 4 months, she started to laugh...it sounds like a squeal, but when her eyes get all squished up and her toothless grin can't get any wider, it's the most magical laugh in the world. After a few weeks of slurpy finger-sucking, Sydney has recently figured out how to bypass the other digits and go straight for the thumb. It's been fun to watch her use her hands in different ways, too. She prefers to grab and squeeze with her left, and wave with her right. She's on the verge of sitting up on her own, really needing only the very lightest touch to keep her from tipping over. Soon enough she will be crawling and walking and talking and.....we are just savoring every moment we have now as the time really does fly by.

Sydney got the biggest ever gift when she turned 4 months old -- a new house! We found a beautiful home in Sierra Madre (just outside of Pasadena). It was a foreclosure which will take a bit of work to get it into the condition we would like...a very fun project for Handy Heidi (ok, and the contractor we hire for the heavy duty stuff). Check out the "before" pictures so you will appreciate the "after" as we get there!

A week at home with Baby Sydney

She's arrived! Sydney Grace announced her presence to the world on Saturday, December 20th, at 4:04 pm. She weighed in at 6 lbs 12 ozs, and measured 21 inches long. After an emergency c-section (Sydney was trying to be born "sunny-side up") we got to bring her home on Christmas Eve. What an awesome Christmas gift!

Mom and Dad, well, we are faring better than anticipated. We are thankful for family and friends and all of their support (and expertise as we experience on the job training!). Things we have discovered this week? Swaddling baby requires a combination of Jedi mind-tricks and duct tape. Hats don't stay on baby's head no matter how much glue is used. "Squirt" is an appropriate nickname at least 6-8 times per day, one of the reasons being how little and cute baby is...

We are so blessed with our baby Sydney, and look forward to introducing her to all of the wonderful people in our lives who will impact our little girl as she grows!

Welcome to Our Little World!

With only 5 weeks left before the due arrival of Baby Wang, we are now in the home-stretch of expectancy. The littlest Wang is eager to greet this world and meet all of the wonderful people in our lives. We will find out if this baby is a boy or girl the day he or she arrives, which means, according to Heidi's brother Jed, that he will have to wait to find out if he is going to be an Auntie or an Uncle. You can even get in on the fun with our very own pool site and place your wagers... http://www.expectnet.com/games/NameThatWang (yes, there is a prize for the one who gets the most right, so it's worth your time to post a guess!)

We are blessed by you - our family and friends near and far who have been so generous with your support and encouragement. As we begin this chapter in our adventure, we anticipate sharing many incredible moments with you. Check back often!
